Astronomy

Athabasca University astronomy courses are designed to introduce the science of astronomy and develop basic understanding of the major components of the universe we see. They are standard university-level courses, which are transferable to other institutions in North America and throughout the world.

The lab component is an important part of astronomy courses. Recent developments in virtual labs allow for the simulation of astronomical observations. In fact the sky can be displayed, on a personal computer, in great detail at any time of the day and on any day of the year. This gives the courses great flexibility. They can be completed anywhere, any time and at the student's own pace.
