Biography

I do wide-ranging research in several areas broadly related to space. Within AU, I have developed the AUGO observatory to observe auroras and other sky phenomena visible at our latitude.

What's Hot

spaceweather.com - news and information about Sun-Earth environment.

My Courses

I have tutored or developed a wide range of courses in science and math. My course-related activities now focus on use of open courseware in science. I am developing more, and higher level, courses in subject areas related to my expertise, using exciting new technologies.

Research Interests

  • Auroral currents
  • Impacts and Dynamics of Asteroids
  • Craters on Earth and on Venus
  • Optimization Problems
  • Technology in Science Education

More Serious Pursuits

  • cross-country skiing (that covers about 8 months per year!)
  • canoeing (trying to get together a geology canoe trip)
